Handy tips to increase your whole grain consumption

  • Eat a whole grain breakfast cereal.
  • Eat whole grain bread or toast instead of white bread or white toast.
  • Try wholemeal pita bread, wholemeal English muffins or rye bread (Pumpernickel).
  • Taste brown rice or whole wheat pasta instead of white varieties.
  • Why not try rolled oats?
  • Stews and casseroles thickened with wholemeal flour, brown rice or wheat bran are a good choice for lunch or dinner.
  • Try whole grain sandwiches or rolls with your favourite filling.
  • Try salads with grains including tabouli or brown rice.
  • What about whole grain mini pizzas, whole grain cracker biscuits or whole grain biscuits and muffins?
  • Eat grain-based nutritious snack bars.
