BSc MSc PhD FIFST FRSM, is the Managing Director of DPR Nutrition Limited. He holds visiting professorships at the Universities of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Reading. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Rowett Research Services in Aberdeen, Scotland. Professor Richardson began his career as an academic at London University and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) before embarking on a 25-year career as an industrial scientist culminating in his position as Group Chief Scientist and Head of Nutrition Science and Communication for Nestlé UK Ltd. He was a founder member of Council of the UK Joint Health Claims Initiative (JHCI) and he chaired the EU Concerted Action Programme (PASSCLAIM) to develop a process for the scientific substantiation of health claims. He was a member of the UK Government Committee on Medical Aspects of Food Policy (COMA) and industry observer on the UK Food Standards Agency Expert Group on Vitamins and Minerals. Professor Richardson has been chairman of various national expert scientific and industrial committees and is a regular presenter of lectures at international scientific meetings.
