Syral - a subsidiary of the French cooperative group Tereos - is the 3rd biggest european starch processor and processes 3 million tonnes of cereals (maize and wheat) in 6 factories into 1,500,000 tonnes
of starch products (dry matter), 115,000 m3 of alcohol, 200,000 tonnes
of vegetable protein and 850,000 tonnes of co-products.
The company employs 1,360 people and has a pro forma turnover of 930 million euros.
The aim of starch mills is to extract the starch from vegetable matter and, where possible, to process it to meet the needs of client industries.
The success of starch products is linked to their availability and to
their renewable and biodegradable nature. The development by starch companies of many starch processing processes has enabled them to increase their outlets in a variety of sectors: agrifood, pharmaceutical, chemical, and paper and cardboard industries.
