2 finished HEALTHGRAIN PhD´s from University of Ulster !

Lesley Hamill (left) and Edel Keaveney who received their PhD’s on 15 December 2009 from the University of Ulster, Coleraine for research that was conducted as part of Ulster’s contribution to Module 4 (Nutrition and Metabolism). Dr Keaveney is currently working at Kelloggs Europe, in Dublin, Ireland. Dr Hamill is currently working at Queen’s University, Belfast.

AGAIN 2 Awards for HEALTHGRAIN researchers for their outstanding work!

More than 300 delegates from 38 countries from Europe, the Americas, Asia, Australia and Africa participated at the 4th International Dietary Fibre Conference DF09 in Vienna, 1-3 July 2009. Participants appreciated the high quality scientific programme and the warm conference atmosphere in the Schoenbrunn Palace. General Mill’s Special Research Award was received by Mette Kristensen from the University of Copenhagen (Denmark).

    Multidisciplinary cooperation between research groups is an important factor in making HEALTHGRAIN research so successful.

    2nd EDITION, EXXENTIA INTERNATIONAL AWARD FOR APPLIED RESEARCH IN PHYTOTHERAPY AND NUTRITION

    The jury members of the Exxentia International Award in their meeting in Madrid the 27th February 2009 have evaluated the candidates applying to this second edition to any of the two categories. The jury emphasizes the high quality of the presented proposals and consequently the difficulty to make a decision among the candidates of this second call.

    Martijn Noort (TNO) and Ruth Price (University of Ulster) were the recipients of the 2 Awards, made available by KRAFT, for young researchers for the best cereal research projects presented at the Whole Grain Global Summit, Newcastle 24-27 March 2009
